Don Faust Joins Chris Around The World

by Chris on April 30, 2011

I needed a partner – and luckily, I have one in house. Why my husband, Don Faust, is now a partner in Chris Around The World.

A lot of suitcase activity went on in our house this past week. Only it wasn’t me packing up my things this time. My husband Don Faust is taking his first solo trip this year, boarding the Carnival Magic tomorrow as it sets off on its inaugural cruise in the Mediterranean.

Don’s voyage marks a crossroads for the Chris Around The World blog. I’ve found that handling the blog solo has become more difficult – particularly when you put freelance writing, a day job and the latest revision of my iPhone/iPad app, the Philly Essential Guide into the mix. I needed a partner to keep all the moving parts…moving.

Luckily, I had a great candidate in house. With his photography skills, tech background and love of travel, Don proved to be perfect for the job (even though I’m the one who currently works at a software company, he’s actually been a programmer. Hard core).

It’s been challenging to combine small business strategy meetings into our household routine, but also exciting. We’re dreaming big, and doing it together.

What this means is that you’ll see Don’s byline on more stories (he already runs the popular Photo Friday posts). We’ve also turned his photo site, Don Faust Photo, into a gallery of our travel photos. Expect that site to grow over the next year.

Even as Don takes on more, I still remain the blog’s Chief Bossypants. I’m far too much of an editrix to give up too much control. And we’re not changing the name of the blog, although by having both of us on the road, we’re able to “c” twice as much for our readers (get it? 🙂 )

If you want to follow along with the Carnival Magic’s maiden voyage next week, the Twitter hashtag is #CarnivalMagic and #MagicInaugural. The ship leaves from Venice and will stop in Dubrovnik, Croatia; Sicily, Naples, and Rome, among other ports. You can follow Don or me, as I’ll be retweeting the trip.

And as always, thanks for sticking with me during this journey!
