Photo Friday: Schloss Rochlitz

by Chris on May 6, 2011

This week’s Photo Friday: Schloss Rochlitz in Saxony. Plus a bonus photo of mummified rats!

Schloss Rochlitz medieval castles, Saxony, Germany

The theme for this week’s Photo Friday is castles. We toured three medieval castles in a day last year on our trip to Germany. Above is Schloss Rochlitz, notable for its dark history. Once a royal residence for Saxon princes, Rochlitz also served as¬†prison, a Third Reich stronghold and, under the East German government, even a kindergarten (a little weird, as Rochlitz also boasts a pretty scary dungeon)

Bonus picture: mummified rats!
