Photo Friday: At the Beach in the Grenadines

by Chris on May 11, 2012

This week’s Photo Friday takes us to paradise, which I define as a vacation at the beach in the Grenadines.

This is the latest of our weekly travel photo series, inspired by #FriFotos on Twitter.

At the beach, Grenadines

This week’s #FriFotos theme is PARADISE. It’s been a few years, but Don and I have yet to encounter a destination as relaxing as the 2009 trip that we took to St. Vincent & The Grenadines. While the Caribbean islands can be hard to get to (no thanks to the often unreliable and confounding¬†Liat Airlines), they seem to attract a more laid-back crowd than some of the others, and the result is more of a sailor vibe than the throngs of cruise ship tourists that infiltrate other countries.

The photo above is of Friendship Bay in Bequia. Using the island as a base, we took daytrips to Tobago Cay and the celebrity outpost, Mustique. Now that I’m on the West Coast, visiting the Caribbean is a little more difficult; Hawaii has replaced the islands in our daydreams on cloudy days. But that vacation still fits my definition of paradise.

What a lush vegetation just on the beach! Wonderful!
