That is the same place. We really enjoyed it. And I did love Guanajuato - I tend not to go back to places (too many new ones to explore!) but I would return there. Carole - Thanks for your comments! It really was a great trip, wasn't it? We really saw a lot, but yet it didn't feel rushed. I was on this same trip (I'm half of "the kiss" in the Callejon del Besio--alley of the kiss--image above) and yet reading your blog I've learned things I somehow missed on site. Thanks for filling me in! I do want to add that I managed to visit Guanajuato's Diego Rivera Museum and just blogged a bit about it at http://travelswithcarole.blogspot.com. If the "Las Mercedes" restaurant where you ate is in a private home in San Javier with Chucho Cardenas and his lovely wife (and chef) Luz Ma, you had one of the best meals one can find in Guanajuato with two of the nicest people in town. My husband and I were fortunate to live with this lovely couple for two weeks while we attended the Spanish school in Valenciana in 2003. They had a catering service back then and offered homestays through the language school. Hope you can come back to Guanajuato for another visit. It really is a nice place to visit and live. If the “Las Mercedes” restaurant where you ate is in a private home in San Javier with Chucho Cardenas and his lovely wife (and chef) Luz Ma, you had one of the best meals one can find in Guanajuato with two of the nicest people in town.
