My trip report from St Kitts is up. Going into the trip, I didn’t know much about St. Kitts, other than it – along with sister island Nevis – was the smallest country in the Western Hemisphere. I discoverd that besides being beautfiful, the island has a rich and tragic history rooted in the slave-based sugar trade.

With everything that’s been on my plate, it’s taken forever to write up the final notes from my October trip to Colonial Mexico. For our last stop on our four-day tour through central Mexico highlands, we spent two days in San Miguel de Allende. I had actually joined the tour primarily so I could visit this town, well-known as an artist town/expat haven.

With cobblestone streets and little modern construction, San Miguel is extremely quaint, almost too much so (I liked Guanajuato, a lesser known university town about two hours way from SMA, better). Still, I can see why so many American Baby Boomers are choosing it for their retirement.

At long last, my report and photos from Grenada is up. I enjoyed Grenada and felt that it was a good island for people with diverse interests. You can be hiking in the rainforest in the morning and enjoying a beautiful beach in the afternoon. I was also impressed with the diversity of cuisine (although I never ate iguana, as the man here is preparing to do!)

My trip report from our St. Vincent & the Grenadines vacation is up. As I’ve said in previous posts on Mustique and Tobago Cays, this was one of the most relaxing trips that Don and I have ever taken. It’s nice to slow down once in a while! And SVG is a great place to do that…

I’ve put together two trip reports so far from my week in Mexico: Guadalajara and Guanajuato. San Miguel de Allende is still to come (and may have to wait until I get back from the Caribbean). I really loved this region of Mexico, Guanajuato in particular. I would love to go back and study Spanish here. I’m also inspired to visit other Colonial Mexican cities such as Oaxaca and Campeche.

 I went to Las Vegas with my husband, my sister and my sister’s boyfriend last February, as the second leg of our Sin Week trip that also encompassed Death Valley and Mardi Gras in New Orleans. While we only spent two days in Vegas, we were able to see a show, eat a few meals and enjoy our casino, Steve Wynn’s Encore. (After a few days in Death Valley’s somewhat primitive rooms, it was great to be swaddled in high-thread counts sheets!)
