  • Wow, I really admire and envy you ! what a trip ! As a family person, I am a little bit more limited, but am trying anyway. As a husband and father of 3 kids (now aged 16,14 and 12) we have been very
    > fortunate to travel to about 40 countries in six continents (I’ve told my 2 boys
    > they’ll have to go to Antarctica on their own). Last year we were in Colombia
    > and Iceland; this year we’ll be in South Africa (for the 2010 World Cup) and
    > Mozambique, Turkey and Bulgaria.
    >
    > I have always believed family travel should be ‘real’ travel as opposed to
    > accompanying one’s kids to resorts and theme parks and have tried to plan our
    > trips accordingly. For a few months I have been blogging some of our more recent
    > experiences (http://travellingdad.wordpress.com) and recently my brother and I
    > started our own company, Quivertree Family Expeditions
    > (http://quivertreeworld.com) to try promote the real family travel we believe
    > in.
    >
    > I have been following your site for a while as it appears you subscribe to the
    > same style of family travel we do. I was wondering if there was any way you
    > could look at my blog (and/or my brothers at http://travelwithkidz.wordpress.com
    > ) and consider adding it to your ‘Blogs we love’. Of course we would add your
    > link to our blogs at the same time.
    >
    > As a start up business, we are also looking to link our website with like minded
    > people – I can’t really see where that would be done with yours, but if you have
    > any ideas on that, I would very much appreciate the feedback.

  • Mat says:

    Hi Chris,

thanks a lot for compiling the list – will definitely come in handy.

    Cheers,
    Mat

  • mary jane says:

If people (especially cruisers) are asking about Civitavecchia area, suggest they check out my website and blog (50 years in Italy ) to get a local perspective .
    Thanks,

  • This is a well compiled list. Will be taking a good look at the house rentals in particular, that seems much more economical than booking a hotel when on vacation.
